Low-Income Youth Achieve Remarkable Milestone: $1 Million in Scholarships Awarded by Take Stock in Children

[Sunrise, FL, May 9th 2024] – In a triumph of perseverance and community support, low-income youth from Broward County are celebrating a monumental achievement as they graduate high school with a staggering $1 million in scholarships collectively awarded by the local non-profit, Take Stock in Children of Broward. Through unwavering dedication to their education and with the invaluable assistance of mentors, these deserving students have overcome barriers to reach this remarkable milestone.

Take Stock in Children has long been a beacon of hope for disadvantaged youth, providing vital resources, mentorship, and continued support throughout their high school journey. The program's holistic approach to college and career readiness has empowered students to dream big and reach even higher. From navigating the complexities of college applications to preparing for rigorous academic challenges, Take Stock in Children has been a guiding light for these aspiring scholars.

In addition to the financial support provided by Take Stock in Children, the graduating students received essential dorm supplies courtesy of Encore Dance Theater Elite Company, ensuring they have the tools they need to thrive in their collegiate journey. This generous gesture underscores the collaborative spirit of the community in fostering educational success for all.

At a special ceremony honoring excellence and dedication, Mentors of the Year, Corrie Holt and Roseline Cook, were celebrated for their unwavering commitment to guiding and empowering their mentees. Their mentorship has been instrumental in shaping the futures of these young scholars.

Furthermore, School Coordinator of the Year, Hallema Collier, was recognized for her outstanding leadership and tireless efforts in coordinating the program's activities, ensuring that students receive the support they need to excel academically and beyond.

As a token of recognition for their exceptional academic achievements, the Top Ten Seniors were presented with chords, symbolizing their dedication to excellence and their readiness to embark on the next chapter of their educational journey.
