Mentor Today!

Four steps, and the training, background check, and placement are all provided. Twice a month at the student's school.

  1. Apply to mentor

    Complete and submit a TSIC Mentoring Application.

    Open the TSIC Mentor Application

    Please email jflur@takestockbrowardfl.org or call (754) 600-9756 with any questions.

  2. The schools sign you in

    Complete and submit a Broward County Public Schools Volunteer Application online. Once Take Stock in Children has received your TSIC Mentoring Application, you will be contacted by a Take Stock in Children staff member to complete a Broward County Public Schools Volunteer Application online.

    If you submitted your application, and have not heard back from a Take Stock in Children staff member, please e-mail jflur@takestockbrowardfl.org or call (754) 600-9756.

  3. Orientation and fingerprinting

    Attend a virtual mentor orientation and complete fingerprinting session.

    Please note, the Mentor Trainings are virtual!

  4. Get matched, and begin

    Receive a Level 2 Clearance from Broward County Public Schools and a Match Letter from Take Stock in Children…then, begin mentoring!

    After your fingerprinting session, the Level 2 Clearance from the School Board usually takes no more than two weeks to process. Once our office receives notice from the School Board that you are cleared to mentor, we will match you with an available Take Stock in Children student at your preferred school.

    • Contact information for both your School Coordinator and Student Advocate will be included in your Match Letter.
    • Contact either the Mentor Coordinator, your School Coordinator, or your College Readiness Coach to schedule your first meeting with your mentee.
